In the song “Gives You Hell” by The All American Rejects, lead singer, Tyson Ritter is talking about the drastically different lifestyles that he and one of his ex-girlfriends are now living. He’s not afraid to be bitter about the whole situation. In verse one he draws contrast between his lifestyle and hers by the lyrics:

“I wake up every evening
With a big smile on my face
And it never feels out of place
And you’re still probably workin’
At a 9 to 5 pace”

The pre-chorus is a little funny because it is very deceptive-one moment talking about loss and missing someone but then flat out admitting that your lying.

The chorus is Tyson’s way of saying “You had me, your loss…oh and I hope your pissed about your decision” . He’s communicating that he lives the life of a rockstar and she decided to leave and now he hopes she’s miserable about it.  In the second verse Tyson is pointing out  that material things can’t buy love. He hopes that she deeply regrets her decision to leave him and in the hook he tells her how it is:

“Now you’ll never see
What you’ve done to me
You can take back your memories
They’re no good to me
And here’s all your lies
You can look me in the eyes
With the sad, sad look
That you wear so well”

This years Reading and Leeds sold out within 24 hours of the tickets going live. Headliners Radiohead, Kings of Leon and the Arctic Monkeys are largly responsible for this. Both big and small bands/individuals are taking advantage of twitter, which is an amazing status by status update client. It’s simple – all you do is tell twitter what you are doing at the moment and in turn it broadcasts it to all your followers.  Now you can follow band members inside of your favorite band. Scary? Yeah, maybe a little bit..because when you tell people your going to Starbucks on 5th avenue don’t be surprised if you get bombarded with stalkers and maybe even paparazzi. Twitter is amazing if you know how to use it correctly and if your fans are on it. It’s one of the best and most simple music marketing tools there is. Best of all its free. It strips all your social networks features down into just status. HOWEVER, I’ve seen bloggers stop making blog post and musicians stop practicing at band practice because they are too busy telling others what they are doing. Is it a productivity issue? Maybe, but that depends on how much you use Twitter.

For anyone who doubted U2 when hearing their first single “Get On Your Boots” , you were wrong. Their new album, No Line On The Horizon , has been #1 on billboard the past few weeks, and doesn’t seem to be budging. On June 30th U2 will be embarking on their worldwide 360 tour. We are still waiting for more US dates, as of now we only have Chicago, Boston, and New York.  Keep you posted on the latest!

As we told you a few days ago, T.I. was sentenced to one year in jail. The above interview with CNN is likely to be his last inteview before he hits the can. During the short interview his leg monitor goes off and they tell him he needs to change his battery. My only question about this situation is – how will jail be for TI? Will he be treated like Henry Hill from GoodFella’s or will it be more like Edward Nortons charactar from American History X? Do celebrities get perks in Jail? I have no idea, someone please fill me in.

This music app happens to be a few months old, but that doesn’t change the fact that the company who made it is amazing. Smule is coming out with another iPhone app entitled “Leaf Trombone” later on this year. Ocarina for the Iphone reminds me of the good old days of chilling and playing Zelda for n64, while drinking a coke. I think i might have to start re-living those days again! Keep an eye on Smule for all the bet music apps on the iPhone.

Say What? Yeah, you heard me right. Michael Mayer, director of Broadway’s Spring Awakening, and Green Day decided to get together for a musical. The entire theatrical production will be based off of Green Day’s American Idiot. “It doesn’t make a lot of sense,” front man Billie Joe Armstrong told the NYT, “but that’s what I love about it. When people see it, it’s going to be my wildest dream. The American Idiot musical will open September 4th at California’s Berkeley Repertory Theatre and run through October 11th.
