This new video entitled “Blink 182 summer 2009″ hit YouTube last week. In the background you’ll hear the music to the song “Violence” from Blink 182′s most recent release. I hope we get as many recording updates as the old days, so far it’s not looking like it. You won’t hear any new songs in this video, you’ll only see a few snippets of the Tom Delonge and Mark Hoppus recording with Violence blaring in the background. Most of the video is footage of the bands photo shoot.
If you’ve been following Mark Hoppus on twitter, than you probably know that he’s been in Australia the past week for the MTV Video Awards. Anyone else excited about a new Blink 182 album later this year?
Here’s a question: should you have to pay for cool content from a band or musician? Answer: You shouldn’t. In fact you shouldn’t even have to pay a dime to services like Modlife, because the fact is there is only like 12 bands on the thing. Why do that when you can go to MySpace and get all kinds of cool content? I’ll tell you why- because of Tom Delonge’s ego and wanting to create something that is going to change the music forever. Well Tom, paying $2.99/month for a Modlife premium account just to read your blog posts doesn’t make anyone happy, just letting you know.
To all the Blink 182 Fans, lets start a riot.
If you need alternatives check out Mark Hoppus’ Blog. Plus you’ll get plenty of updates, PLENTY. The guy does twitter like 20 times a day.
MTV did a nice little article about Blink 182 and the motions that they’ve gone through over the past few years. From not speaking and the breakup to near death experiences and the reunion, this article has everything that has happened to the band over the past 4 years.
According to their MySpace blog Blink 182 is back and ready to go:
Hi. We’re blink-182. This past week there’ve been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us. To put it simply, We’re back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy.
Mark, Tom, and Travis just annonced that they are back together at the grammy’s. I’ll have video for you soon!
From there MySpace Blog:

You know i see a commonality already, they both are 3-piece bands. One band got big through Disney and the other worked their ass off and ran naked through the streets. “Musically, I was definitely into blink,” Kevin, the oldest Jonas brother at 21, said last week from Hollywood. “Travis Barker is one of the greatest drummers ever, and all the guys in blink are really good songwriters. I grew up listening to their music, and they definitely played a part in the (sound of) early Jonas Brothers.”
Mark Hoppus wrote a blog post today talking about how the last two months have been some of the hardest times in his life. With the death of Jerry Fynn, a producer who is very close to both him and the members of blink 182. He also talks about the plane crash that Travis Barker was in and the death of little Chris, who is his dear friend. Towards the end of his post he said that he has recently hung out with Tom and Travis. It had been the first time hanging out with Tom since the split. It was a pretty brutal split up if you aren’t educated on it. Mark and Tom have gone without talking for at least a year and a half. This is big news to Blink 182 fans around the world.
Here’s Mark Hoppus recording part of a verse than a chorus to an unreleased plus 44 song. The riff’s sound pretty catchy so far from what we can see in the video. Despite Barkers injuries, the new album is likely to come out in late 2009. Check out Hoppus’ YouTube Channel.
