Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman – Stoned out of his mind
Feb 12th
Joaquin Phoenix is tripped out on acid or something. He can’t even pull off a normal interview, this is a little hard and awkward to watch. Through all this, we end up learning that his music is going to be hip-hop, or so he mumbled out. Letterman shot him down when he said he would perform!
Getting Booked at Music Venues
Nov 6th

I don’t know if you can believe it or not, but the above picture is me at 16, jamming out of course. Today’s music marketing topic is getting booked at music venues. It’s easy, it’s a pain in the ass, and it’s somewhere in between. Some venues will want your demo, so if your a small band you could rule yourself out right there. Non sense! Get a decent video of the crowd loving your stuff with the band jamming and you will be set (it can be a YouTube video). If you want to plan your own tour you can, using places like Local Band Network and others. However, booking yourself takes a lot of time and motivation at the national level. Best thing I can recommend is to get someone to do your booking for you. Partner with a few other bands that you personally like and tour. As i told you before, talking to people at your shows is the most powerful tool to get somewhere with your band, it’s the same for booking shows. Get your live show down and play as many house party’s as you can, there is no better way to get your music out than word of mouth.
Any other suggestions or ideas that you know of for getting booked as a smaller band? Comment Below.

At the base of the Sphinx in Giza, Egypt some thirty years ago, Grateful Dead performed a series of shows that made history for the band.
