SerTop puts the ST in ST Patrick!
Mar 18th

We gotta give three cheers for ST. Patrick. He’s the reason we get all dressed in green and drink like the Irish till we pass out. St. Patrick was born in the west coast of Britain in 385 AD. St. Patrick was kidnapped at age 16 and then sold into slavery bought by a sheep farmer. After being captured for six years, he finally snuck his way out at age 22. St. Patrick did eventually get back to Ireland were he began converting people to Christianity. Soon St. Patrick became known as a legendary figure when he eventually died on March 17th 461 AD (St. Patrick’s Day). A lot of fun facts go with this day; according to the “Guinness Book of World Records” the most leaves found on a clover was 14. That’s crazy considering the odds of finding a four leaf clover are 1 to every 10,000 three leaf clovers. Did you know in Chicago they will actually die the rivers green for St.Patrick’s. Watch out for the leprechauns those little mischievous creatures stand only about two feet tall and got access to a pot of gold, you can find them by listening to their tiny hammers, if your lucky enough to catch one don’t take your eyes off them not even for a second those tricky little buggers will vanish leaving you lost without the gold. When you go out tonight enjoy the day that was brought on by ST. Patrick, drive responsibly, and don’t do anything SerTop wouldn’t do.

Who is Jon Henry?
Mar 11th
That seems to be the talk of the town. Jon Henrys been the guy who’s taking over starting with Los Angeles, California. This one of a kind rapper starts what others can’t. He hits with a angle that most rappers dream of, but for Jon Henry this comes natural. He’ll knock you on your feet. You gotta check out his song “Happy Loser” this song is absolutely amazing, it talks about staying a loser. Jon Henry knows how to “stand out” in a crowd. Look for his upcoming “Goodbye Cruel World” project coming soon. We will try to get a interview with him in the near future.
Things Heat Up With RedStar Redemption!
Mar 6th
For those of you who don’t know this upcoming band from Michigan, you really oughta check them out.
Below is a clip we shot of them playing “Time Tells All” live at Clutch Cargo
[youtube=http://youtube.com/watch?v=42ayIEYnB8M]
We recently had a chance to ask them a few questions about life, liberty, and the pursuit of KICKING SOME ASS!
How’d you guys come together?
Well, it was about a year ago, i (becky) went to the Clutch Cargo’s Exposure music live concert, to see my friends band play, and coincidentally Sam was the drummer, its a really long story, but me and sam had met the summer before that at a friends house, and he recognized me, so we started talking and we exchanged numbers, and surprsingly we were into the same music and we ended up starting RedStar. Then about six months later Ricky came to my school and we needed a bassit and he was like “I’ll do it!” so i was like cool. And now he’s on lead guitar, and alyssa, whose been my friend since middle school, is on bass.
Do you write all your own songs? If so what’s your inspiration?
Yes. We write all of our songs. I (becky again =]) write the lyrics. Inspiration for me with the lyrics just comes from what i know, and what i’m going through and feeling at the moment, just life i guess. It’s definitely a way to get stuff off my chest, because i’m not so good a verbalizing. =D
When it comes to writing the music, its just a lot of different things, like different styles of music we like, what sounds cool, and definitely just how much we love what we do, music is EVERYTHING! haha.
What’s the meaning behind “Time Tells All”?
“Time Tells All” is about standing up for what you belive in and being strong, and not listening to what other people tell you. It’s also about kind of, finding yourself in a sense, and people thinking they know who you are from judging the outside, but they don’t know whats inside, and even though you think you feel one way right now you could feel a different way later, but only time tells all.
I like to think that people could interpret it however they want tho, so they can relate to it and make it like their own. =] (cheesy right?)
Becky, you have a sexy british accent. Do people ever think your from london?

They are on tour as we speak so be sure to check their MySpace page to see if they’re coming to your town!
Below is our chat with Brandon:
Where do the inspirations for most of your lyrics come
from?
Inspiration comes from everywhere. Our lives,
surroundings, the people we know, our dogs, food, or the
devil. But, uh, food and cartoons mostly.
With six members music must be fun to write or maybe a
little hectic… how does everything usually come together?
It’s a pretty easy process. Someone will have an idea and
then the the others fall into place.
You guys are hitting the road again on March 14th, any
cities you’re particularly looking forward to rockin?

We get down and dirty with the Orange Marsupials
Feb 18th

Hailing from Michigan, the Orange Marsupials are truly, not only a unique band, but also a very talented one. You can check out a video of them performing live at Clutch Cargos right here! Below is our Q&A session:
First things first, I’ve been dying to ask you guys: what is an orange marsupial?
LISA: They thought up the name before I joined the band, but I do know that a marsupial is; It’s any mammal in which the female has a pouch. Since our name is Orange Marsupials, it narrows it down to kangaroos (well that’s the only orange marsupial I can think of). For our logo I basically looked up kangaroo pictures after I heard what our band name was and I found a kangaroo crossing sign, then my friend changed the words around it to “Orange Marsupials”.
What would your dream show be?
NICK(Preztel) and SAZ: Opening up for Bob Marley at his ‘One Love Peace Concert’, playing with Hendrix at Woodstock, or playing with the Chili Peppers.
LISA: I’d love to play a show with 311. As far as earlier eras, I’d have to say Woodstock and I’d wanna go on right before Joe Cocker.
KEVIN: Opening up for the Detox Tour when Dr. Dre drops his new album.
SAZ reminds me of Hendrix
SAZ: Thanks, I get that a lot.
You are one of the most original bands I’ve heard in a while. When I was listening to you guys live at Clutch Cargo, I thought to myself wow this is the most productive jam session ever! What’s your writing process like?
LISA: One of us always comes in with a new guitar riff or lyrics and everyone has their own idea about how the song should go, but for some reason all of our unique parts just work together really well.
Besides writing amazing music, what do you all do for fun? More >
Music Therapy
Feb 6th

Ever sit down and wonder what makes us love music? Music therapy is the evidence based solution to making us feel better. Studies have been shown the music helps us out in many different ways through musical responses. Music therapy was first used in the United States back in the 18Th century, however it does date back far beyond that to ancient times. Around World War I, veterans noticed the healing power of the therapy by relieving pain perception on the injured. Music therapy is now used on all ages from small children, to teens, to adults, even the elderly are using the treatment. Music therapy has been used to help physical and mental health, relieve stress, communication abilities, psychological, social functioning, cognitive, and educational problems. The way our body can pick up on a beat or lyric, even on a subconscious level is amazing. That’s why when we hear something we like we become a part of it, we get surrounded by the music. It doesn’t matter how good or bad your day is going, theirs a rhythm out there waiting to keep up with the beat. To learn more visit the American Music Therapy Association.

A Radio Station That Adapts To You!

[digg=http://digg.com/music/Pandora_Radio_3]

Pandora Radio is truly amazing, not to mention that it is completely free! If the fact that it actually adapts to you doesn’t impress you, then check out the user interface. The people over at Pandora have been working on a huge project called the “Music Genome.” It not only gives you what artist you like, it describes to you exactly what kind of a song your listening to. For example, if I type in “Sick Puppies”, than it will tell me exactly what they are catagorized as in the Music Genome Project and continue to play the music that I like.
Make Music? Submit Your Work To Pandora Radio!
If you are a musician with a working demo than you can submit your music for the world to listen to! It is somewhat of a small process, but it is highly worth it to get your music the exposure. Click here to get started!
