YouTube Joins the MP3 download business

Partnering with iTunes and Amazon’s MP3 store, YouTube is set to unleash there new puppy: an in video link to download songs in music videos. Of course we have seen a whole array of websites integrating these features to try and save the music industry but I am not so sure it will work. When people have a certain way to get music they usually stick with it, so for this to get a positive response not only will the person have to be a YouTube video watcher, but also a Amazon or iTunes customer. This may tap into a whole new market or fall flat on its face, only time will tell.

Barker, DJ AM will recover says doctor

According to doctors at the Georgia burn clinic Travis Barker and DJ AM are expected to fully recover. Barkers main burns are around his torso, DJ AM’s burns are on his hands and head. For these types of burns it takes around a year to recover, knowing travis he’ll be playing drums and on the road in 6 months.

Travis Barker and DJ AM are listed in critical condition at a burn center in Augusta, Georgia after a plane crash late Friday night. There were 6 people on the plane, 4 are dead. It is unknown who the deceased people are at this point. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating what caused the plane crash. Apparently DJ AM was transported by air to the burn center, while Barker was transported by ground. This could mean that DJ AM was hurt a lot worse than Barker. There is not much news beyond this, i will keep you updated with the latest.

A band with no lyrics/vocals - Mogwai

Hailing from Glasgow, Scottland, Mogwai does not use words in their songs. We are not trying to claim this is the first instrumental band ever to exist, but i would argue their stuff kicks ass. Their music is based off pure emotion that is stretched to audience by the instruments they play. Yes, they test their music on animals to see the responses they get. We think its cool. They are currently on tour in the US and Canada.

It seems like Apple always picks the catchiest music for their TV advertisements. How do they choose these songs? Well there is so much undiscovered talent to choose from that there might not be too much thought going into it. My biggest question is what comes first the idea for the ad or the song? Lets look at some favorites:

Music in this Ad: My hot hot sex - Cansei de Ser Sexy

Music in this Ad: 1 2 3 4 by Feist

The Who puts Covers album on hold

Old school pic right? It looks like the anticipated Cover album from the Who has been postponed until further notice. The reason for the delay is that T Bone Burnett, the producer, is currently working on the road with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Hopefully we’ll get more news on this soon.

The End of MTV’s TRL

We all have at least some memory of seeing Carson Daly and numerous celebrities exciting the streets of New York. After Total Request Live’s 10th anniversary on This past Sunday, MTV announce that the show will be no more. The last airing of the show is set for November and will be a 2 hour special. My guess is that there will be TRL memories and surprise performances.  This is the end of an era for MTV, or maybe the beginning, i guess we’ll find out.
